Simple

This post, as you can see by the title, might just as well be very simple, as I have little to say and am running out of time.

Things have been very busy lately, so posting has been delayed. I plan to post very soon, though! So many things are going on, it's hard to keep up.
But Ahh! Smell that Spring air! The flowers are blooming and it's warm out, finally getting to be Spring. It's raining here at my house right now, but that's beside the point.

Through the forest

My friend Liv and I hiked down the ravine yesterday.

{through the looking glass}
{moss}
We were planning to go through the trail I discovered a while back, but ended up exploring off to another unknown place, and somehow we found another creek.
We kinda traveled up the creek, until we couldn't get over all the logs and fallen trees ahead. We didn't notice until later that we had been walking in the water the whole time.

So we walked back down the creek until we got to the bridge, then started down the other trail. We wandered off pretty far. We sat on the bridge over the big stream. Climbing on the edges and railings, we almost fell in.
We almost headed back until we decided we should go farther. So we did. A tiny trail lead to big pools of water, with thousands of little tiny pebbles. The ground was wet, and our feet sunk in when we walked on it. It was like a tiny beach, only no ocean. Just waterfalls and large pools of water rushing downhill.

{moss}

We headed home before it got dark, but made plans to come back again. We started running through the trees when we saw this guy who wasn't moving.

I haven't been working on many rings lately, It's been really busy. I also have to go get some more resin, I'm running out. We brought home some tiny plants and tiny pine cones that we could immerse in resin to make rings. I'll work on them later. But I did make a clear ring with moss in it, but you couldn't see anything in the photos.
I'll keep posting soon.

Numbers

I made this really cool ring last night.

I used the saturday ring design, but I just left the resin clear and embedded these tiny raised numbers in it from an old credit card! It turned out great, but the piece just sunk to the bottom. Oh well.
I buffed it, but only the top part. I left the rest frosty because it looks like ice. I like it that way. I still have some sanding and polishing to do, but it's pretty cool.

Junk

Okay, I'll admit it. I love junk. There's nothing I'll throw away--nothing. Take my bulletin board, for example: you can't even see the board. Only what's on it.
Sometimes I don't even know why they're there. If I find something I like, it just goes on the bulletin board. It's like a habit.
Papers, postcards, a two dollar bill, a faux flower, clothing tags, a paint chip, a baby hat, business cards, greeting cards, candy wrappers, ticket stubs, magazine clippings, a paper balloon thing, pictures, a lemonade can foil, even a tiny monkey. They're all there.

I have a notebook with a lot of things in it too. They're all taped in, like a chocolate bar wrapper from some factory, a typeface directory page, artwork from magazines. But I love it.

I just like to keep everything.

Like today, we were throwing out a load of things that were stashed away for years. We were taking it all to the dump. A lot of the things I wouldn't let them take. We found a lot of antique things, and that is probably the number one thing I won't get rid of. Antiques.
We found a lot of things: old sketchbooks and magazines, vintage cameras.
But I won't let them throw it away. Never.

Update (I can't think of a name for this post)

I am SO tired today. SO tired.
Anyways, the new resin rings came out today, and I would show you a picture. But, see, I got a buffing wheel today also, and I was really determined to get the rings buffed for the pictures. So I buffed them, and they got all shiny and polished, BUT--I had only buffed something once before. And that item was much larger than a tiny ring. So when I got to buffing the small areas on the inside, the rings slipped out of my hand and flew across the room. I lost those two. Say goodbye to the electric purple Saturday and the peach Box ring. They're now gone.
I just love this picture! It's so pretty. My cousin and I were taking rings and color samples and taking pictures for fun, and the limonata color is just glowing! So pretty.
Limonata Bubble and an Ocean Saturday.
Ok, yeah I know this picture is really far away, but I took it because I was trying to make a new banner for my etsy shop and the shape was tiny.  So, take a look and see the new banner!
Here are some colors of resin I have created. That's all i have to say. *yawn*

Anyways, my friend Savannah (if you're reading this, i hope it's ok that i used your name!) requested a limonata bubble ring and it is SO pretty! I love it! She's gonna help design rings with me, and we have a lot of ideas coming, so keep watch on my blog!

colors, hues and shades {and a new ring}

Don't you just love color?
SO, I was working in the studio today and I poured some new resin rings. I just recently invented the Seedling ring, it's a small band with a stem and leaf sticking out the top. It's so cute! Here is a list of them:
•BOX ring in:
pasqua (it's a solid easter blue)
peach (transparent--my new favorite color)
• SATURDAY ring in:
summer night (kind of dark blue)
• SEEDLING ring in:
sea mist
• ANNIKA ring in:
{I mixed together pasqua and sea mist so there's more than one color}

Tomorrow I'll post with pictures, and I'm planning to make some pastel colored rings for easter gifts!

5 hours only

Hey you guys--there are only 5 hours left to vote, so vote now! The poll is at the bottom of the page. There has only been 2 votes so far, and one of them is from me ;(

Sometimes I wonder if anyone is even reading my blog. If anyone has ever even been to it. I have no followers. No comments. Nothing. And I wonder if I will ever. Who knows.
Whoever the first voter was, thank you. And if you're reading this now, well, thank you again.

At least I read my blog.

so much to say

I've been working on some more resin rings lately. I FINALLY LEARNED HOW TO MAKE YELLOW THAT'S TRANSPARENT! Well, the first ring came out really light, so I named the color Limonata. Sanpellegrino. Limonata. Mmm. I took some pictures, so here they are:

Most of these rings aren't sanded yet, so they still have rough edges.
Omigosh I LOVE these rings! They're two Box rings stacked together in Aqua and Limonata. Limonata is a sparkling lemonade by Sanpellegrino. It's Italian, and it's so good!

Just what I want right now--some cold, cold milk. Yum! When you put this ring up to the light, this ring almost glows and has these little tiny speckles in it all over.

I actually made this Mint Band ring a long time ago, but I kinda forgot about it. It's really thin, so you can almost see through it and there a little tiny bubbles everywhere.
Ooh. That picture's pretty. I finally found out what this ring reminds me of: green grapes. It is the EXACT same color---exactly. It's insanely similar.

Anyways--
I just talked to my friend who moved to Arizona in the summer. I miss her ;( Her name is Priscilla, but we all call her Cilla. She said it's burning hot over there and misses us too.

Well, I'm going to see my cousin again today. Last night we went to Koolan Beach, and we sat on the rocks in the lake and watched the sunset. It was beautiful. The water was cold, but the air was hot. I love that, when the beach water is icy and the sun is blazing, and you just sit on a rock and put your feet in. Ahhh. Summer.

Finally Spring

It's finally starting to look like Spring! It's a beautiful sunny day today, so I went out and took some pictures of the new rings I've been working on. It took forever to make these!

Yes, the Saturday ring. Although just because its name is Saturday, doesn't mean it can't be worn whenever! The color is actually electric purple, but for some reason my camera doesn't capture any purple very well. It all turns out blue.
The Saturday ring in electric purple, the Bubble ring in deep red (my first solid color ring), and the Box ring in aqua.
The Annika ring. Also one of my favorites. This one is for her, so she better like it. I know she will ;)
We never went to the beach yesterday, so we might go tonight for dinner. We eat at Koolan Beach, a beach/restaurant/boat place we've gone to since we were really little. We would always play on the beach and in the water, and sit on the dock and watch the boats pull away. We like to go to the gazebo across the field to eat.

I hope you enjoyed the update! I am working hard on making rings, and experimenting with lots of colors. Colors made so far:
• deep red
• berry
• sunshine
• mint
• lime
• electric purple
• midnight
• aqua

Well, i'll post sometime later. See you soon!

Finally done...

Does anyone have any idea what I could do with these resin cubes? I made them with leftover resin from rings I made, but I haven't done anything with them. They're just sitting here.
I was thinking of making a whole bunch with similar colors then drilling wholes in them to make a necklace, but I'm still not sure--I'll think of something.
Below are some pictures of the molds I made of the new rings:
(yeah the photos are really ugly, but the rings will come out pretty! Well I hope so...)

So that's the Annika ring. It's named after my cousin, I love her so much! But she'll only wear rings on one finger, so I made this so it will fit her. Anyways, I hope she likes the design! I might see her later today to go to the beach.

The Box ring.
Okay the photo above looks REALLY ugly, but the shape of the rings will be sanded out so they will be better looking. When I made this the clay wouldn't shape right, so I did the best I could and decided to leave it to the sanding. The ring is just a flat cutout of that shape, it's kind of hard to explain so when it's cast in resin i'll show you more.

The final photo: MY personal favorite, the Saturday ring. Yeah, so what, it's a weird name. But it's cool.
It's kinda chunky, but I still love it! It's squarish shaped, so it will be SO much easier to sand and smooth out. These rings will be quickies. I have a lot of ideas for this ring--not only dying the resin so it's a solid color, but also maybe putting things inside clear resin so the ring will have a cool effect. I don't know. I'll experiment some more later.
I love Saturdays.

I hope you guys liked the rings! I went to a japanese garden today downtown, and got some really pretty pictures--of the garden and my rings! The plants went nicely with the colors and shapes. I'll post them up later today, so you can see them.

I made a new bubble ring today: the Lime Bubble ring. It's pretty cool, it just needs some sanding and ta-DA it's done. Another really cool thing: I think I just might know how to make yellow resin! It might not be transparent though, only solid. But I promise someday I'll figure it out. I promise you.

Well I'm running late for a class I have, so I guess I'll see you guys later! (goodness this is a long post...)

New Bubble ring!

Anyways, the second resin bubble ring I have ever made, so, hopefully they will get better! This one has a few cuts and scratches from the curing process. I tried my best to sand it off.

I am selling this on my etsy account, so take a look! (any buyers....anyone...?) It's a size six, the same as pretty much all my rings are.

I'm really sorry I haven't posted up the La Playa and Box ring yet! I was looking forward to pouring the resin today but I never got around to it, it's been so busy! I had to go to Yelm, but I got the molds done today. I decided to put another layer on though, so they're extra durable and reusable. I also designed a new ring--the Saturday ring. Because I love Saturdays so much I wish they were everyday. Which is why I'm extra happy today ;)
It was a beautiful day today, so I went out and took some pictures of my ring. I was really happy with the lighting in the pictures, I can never seem to get it right!

New rings coming!

I just wanted to let you guys know that NEW RINGS ARE COMING SOON! Today I made the Box ring and my newest La Playa ring out of clay, all I have left to do is bake, mold, and cast. I'm still trying to think of some fun colors for it though......hmmm.....maybe tangerine and midnight? I don't know.
But it's really annoying me that I can't make yellow.

Box Ring

FINALLY! SPRING BREAK!
I almost screamed when I got out of class today. I was so happy.

Anyways, I have come up with a new resin ring collection: The Box Ring! I'll post a picture when I'm done with the first, but I still have to make the ring shape out of clay, bake it, then carve any last details, make a mold of it, dye the resin, cast the resin, and then sand and polish the ring. It should be done in a few days though! I'll give you a picture of the clay once it is baked so you can see the shape in advance.
I'm going to be making a lot of resin rings over the break, and hopefully list some in my Etsy shop. I hope a lot of people are a size 6!!!
I hope to post more soon and show you some more things I have created!

Dante the Elephante

Welcome back! I just wanted to give a shout out to Dante the Elephante, who I first found by etsy. You can see Dante the Elephante's beautiful resin rings here. Dante the Elephante also has a Blogspot, and you can see more of their things there. Thanks for reading this!

Mint Green

Hey! The other day I made this mint green resin ring. It's in the Bubble series and I thought you might want to see it! I am making other rings too but it's been pretty busy lately.

new and fresh

I'm a little new to all this. But i'll catch up. Just wait and see.
